The world’s largest social network for professionals is a MASSIVE opportunity to grow your business.
But, many people don’t know how to leverage it effectively. So they scare off their ideal clients with spammy messages or they don’t show up fully because they’re afraid of making a mistake.
Keep reading and you will learn 3 simple, yet powerful ways to get more out of LinkedIn and increase your sales opportunities… FAST.
When I started to show up on LinkedIn, I wanted to get to the good stuff- creating content that was valuable and finding my ideal clients and connecting with them. Optimizing my profile was a pit stop on my way to more exciting things. I sent long, salesy pitches with each connection request asking if they happened to need my services. I was oh, so wrong.
But, I crawled so you could run.
You’re welcome.
Here are 3 things to do to get success on LinkedIn:
- OPTIMIZE YOUR BIO:
Turns out this step is the most important step! When you spend time crafting a profile with your ideal client in mind, a profile that shows them that you get them and their problem and you know how to help them solve that problem, you have a sales page working for you 24/7.
Spend time going through each section, squeezing as much value out of this free internet real estate as humanly possible.

- CREATE CONTENT THAT CONVERTS:
This one makes me super excited because organic reach and the shelf life of a post can be frustrating. You put all this blood sweat and tears into your content creation only to have 1% of your audience actually even see it.
Not on LinkedIn though. It’s the olden days of organic reach of there!
Your posts get so much more traction and for so much longer. Here’s why: less than 1% of active LinkedIn users are creating content. They’re sitting back CONSUMING content. That means, if you get out there and sing your little heart out, all eyes are on you. You have their attention.
On other platforms (ahem, Facebook) you are competing with your friends, family, every bricks and mortar business, ads, and groups, groups, groups. Get creating content that shares value, engages people and entertaining them never hurt anyone either. You can show personality and your journey, too.

- BEHIND THE SCENES:
Here’s where the rubber meets the road. Being proactive about finding your ideal clients and then reaching out to them to become a part of your network, is one of the best features of LinkedIn.
But most people who try and really get somewhere with LinkedIn stop there.
When you make a new connection, you want to have client converting conversations. Otherwise, you’re just collecting connections. So how do you do this?
Start with the connection request.
Send a personalized invitation to connect- a friendly, short, reason for connecting and leave out the sales pitch. Bonus points if you can be funny or complimentary.
This will dramatically increases your connection request acceptance rates AND naturally gets the conversation started.
Try adding this step and see how the combination of a juicy headline, connecting with the right audience and a message that stands out from the crowd works for your lead generation.
