Strangers In A Strange Land

by Carly Martin | Feb 2, 2020 | organic social media, social media, social media marketing, Uncategorized | 0 comments

Your audience knows a lot about you because of the content you share but does the content you share show that you know them? Besides their interest in you, do you know anything else about them or are they essentially strangers to you?

Knowing this and sharing content that is of interest to them, besides content about your amazing business, is the difference between having followers and building a tribe of loyal fans, customers and clients.

Can you think of five to ten different interests your audience has that jive with your brand as well? There’s your content schedule.

Think about this scenario: you’re a concrete floor installer with an Instagram account to drive business. How often do you think people want to see pictures of the concrete floors you installed? Would they be more likely to engage and keep following if you also posted content about…

-decorating trends

-high-end properties that use concrete

-ridiculous uses of concrete for a laugh

-architecturally unique buildings/design

-micro living

-behind the scenes time lapse video of your crew during installation

-trends in home building

-pantry organization

-garage organization hacks

And so on and so on.

Or, do you think an Instagram grid of solid pictures of your concrete floors would do the job?

This may take testing to figure out what you think they are interested in and what they are actually interested in. Sometimes it’s as simple as starting by figuring out if they’re coffee or tea drinkers but it takes moving beyond your products and services.

So, can you list five to ten parallel interests your ideal audience has?
